Valor Village

Veterans’ Preference Housing & Community Stability Initiative

More Than Housing. A Place to Stabilize, Heal, and Rebuild.

Valor Village is a veterans’ preference housing initiative rooted in dignity, stability, and community. Located in Warrenton, Valor Village serves veterans and veteran families navigating transition—whether from homelessness, housing instability, health challenges, or major life changes.

In rural communities like Warrenton, NC, housing options are limited. Transportation is scarce. Healthcare and employment are often miles away. Valor Village was created to respond to those realities—not with a one-size-fits-all solution, but with a thoughtful, human-centered approach.

Our Vision

We believe veterans deserve:

  • Safe, stable housing

  • Independence without isolation

  • Support without institutionalization

  • Environments that restore confidence, routine, and purpose

Valor Village creates places where veterans can land, stabilize, and move forward—with dignity and choice.

A Community Stability Model Designed for Rural Veterans

Valor Village functions as a community stability and transitional living initiative, designed specifically for rural environments.

Rather than a single large facility, the program uses a layered neighborhood approach:

  • Shared housing for connection and peer support

  • Independent units for veterans ready for autonomy

  • Clustered nearby homes that foster safety and familiarity

  • Onsite and mobile supports that reduce barriers to work and healthcare

This approach recognizes a simple truth:

Housing works best when it is paired with access, routine, and community.

Why Valor Village Matters

Stable housing changes everything.

When veterans have:

  • A safe place to live

  • Access to work and healthcare

  • A supportive, respectful community

They are far more likely to:

  • Maintain employment

  • Improve health outcomes

  • Transition successfully to permanent housing

  • Remain stably housed long-term

Valor Village addresses the root barriers that keep veterans stuck—and replaces them with opportunity.

Valor Village Support System

Phase I: Shared Historic Home

Phase II: Garden-Style Independent Living

Phase II: Garden-Style Independent Living

At the heart of Valor Village is a five-bedroom historic home rehabilitated to serve as shared housing for up to five veterans.

Each resident has:

  • A private bedroom

  • Shared kitchen, dining, and gathering spaces

  • A calm, respectful environment designed for stability

The home is fully furnished and move-in ready, offering immediate comfort and dignity.

Phase II: Garden-Style Independent Living

Phase II: Garden-Style Independent Living

Phase II: Garden-Style Independent Living

Adjacent to the shared home, Valor Village will expand into a small garden-style living area with one-bedroom cottages. This phase supports veterans who are:

  • Working or job-ready
  • Stabilizing income
  • Preparing for permanent housing

Veterans can remain within the same supportive environment while gaining greater independence—reducing disruption and increasing long-term success.

Veteran Micro-Community Housing

Phase II: Garden-Style Independent Living

Gardens as Part of Healing & Stability

In addition to the main site, Valor Village includes nearby mobile homes designated for veterans and veteran families.

  • Two homes located together on one lot

  • One home directly across the street

  • Planned expansion to create a five-home cluster

Together, these homes form a walkable micro-community that supports safety, connection, and independence—without shared living requirements.

Gardens as Part of Healing & Stability

Each Valor Village location will include a small community garden designed to support well-being, routine, and pride.

The gardens:

  • Encourage daily structure and responsibility

  • Support physical and mental wellness

  • Provide space for reflection and grounding

  • Foster connection through shared care

  • Supplement food access with fresh herbs and produce

For many veterans, tending a garden restores a sense of purpose that is often lost during transition.
